What year and in what city were you born?
I was born in 1993 in Fukushima Prefecture, Japan.

Where are you based currently? Please tell us the city (cities) you work and live in.
I work in Tokyo. I moved from Fukushima to Tokyo when I started college, and I have been living in Tokyo ever since.

What is your current identity (photographer, artist, creator, etc.)? Do you have an identity as a photographer? If you have been through other identities, please tell us about them as well.
I'm a photographer. When I was a college student who was into fashion, I started taking pictures with a photographer who was active on the street. At first, rather than making a piece of art, I started taking pictures with my friends to have fun, and then I became a commercial artist. Currently, I am working hard on both artwork and commercial photography activities.

What is the final form of the work you ultimately aim for?
It is to live in a quiet neighborhood and continue to take photos until the day I die.

What genre has influenced you the most?
Music

If there's an artist you've found most interesting lately, who is it, and for what reason is he/she interesting?
Tetsuya Umeda. He is an artist who presents his work using music and space. I've known him for a long time, and I've also seen him perform. Recently, I became very curious about him after hearing from an acquaintance of mine that when they saw Tetsuya Umeda perform, it reminded them of my work.

What does activity on social media platforms mean to an artist?
It's one of the best ways to draw people’s attention to your work, but I don’t think it is very credible. It's pretty sad when people think they know everything about a person's work just by looking at them on social media.

Was there a special occasion for you to get attention on social media?
Nothing in particular. I don't think I have received that much attention.

I would like to hear stories about you taking photos of someone, others taking photos of you, and you taking photos of yourself.
I believe that taking pictures of people is similar to freezing. I think I've always hated being photographed, but at some point I started to care less. I thought it’d be nice if you could just let the photographers take the photo the way they want.

몇 년에 어떤 도시에서 태어났나.
1993년 일본 후쿠시마현에서 태어났다.

현재 활동하는 도시는 어디인가.
도쿄를 거점으로 활동하고 있다. 대학을 다니게 된 것을 계기로 후쿠시마에서 도쿄로 이사 와서, 그 이후로 계속 도쿄에 살고 있다.

현재 당신의 정체성(포토그래퍼, 아티스트, 크리에이터 등)은 무엇인가? 스스로를 포토그래퍼로 정의하는가. 어딘가를 경유해서 지금의 정체성을 형성했다면 그 과정도 말해달라.
포토그래퍼다. 패션에 빠져 있던 대학생 시절, 거리에서 활동하는 사진작가와 인연을 맺어 사진을 찍기 시작했다. 처음에는 ‘작품을 만들겠다’보다 ‘친구들과 즐겁게 찍자’는 마음으로 시작했고, 그러다 우연히 상업 작가로 활동하게 되었다. 그때부터 서서히 작품 활동을 본격적으로 하게 되었다. 현재는 작품 활동과상업사진활동모두열심히하고있다.

궁극적으로 지향하는 최종 단계의 작업 형태는 무엇인가.
조용한 동네에 살면서 생활을 다하고 죽을 때까지 작품을 계속 창작하는 것이다.

가장 영향을 많이 받는 장르는 무엇인가.
음악이다.

최근에 가장 흥미로웠던 아티스트가 있다면 누구이며 어떤 이유로 흥미로웠는가.
우메다 테츠야(梅田哲也). 음악과 공간을 사용해 작품을 발표하는 아티스트다. 예전부터 그의 존재를 알고 있었고, 퍼포먼스를 본 적도 있다. 최근 지인한테 "그의 라이브를 보면, 당신의 사진이 생각이 난다"는 말을 듣고 나서 매우 궁금한 존재가 되었다.

우리 프로젝트에 추천하고 싶은 아티스트가 있다면 누구인가.
시스템 오브 컬처다.

아티스트에게 소셜 미디어상에서의 활동이란 어떤 의미인가.
작품에 대한 많은 관심을 받을 가능성이 있어서 좋다고 생각하지만, 작가에 대해 깊이 아는 것과는 거리가 멀다고 생각한다. SNS를 통해 사람이나 작품을 다알고있다는듯이야기하는것은생각해봐야할일이 아닐까 싶다.

소셜 미디어에서 주목받는 특별한 계기가 있었나.
특별히 없다. 생각보다 그렇게 많이 주목받지 못한 것 같다.

누군가의 사진을 찍은 것, 다른 사람이 당신의 사진을 찍은 것, 그리고 스스로의 사진을 찍은 것에 대한 당신의 이야기를 듣고싶다.
사람의 사진을 찍는 것은 냉동 보관과 비슷하지 않을까 하는 생각이 든다. 사진에 찍히는 것은 좋아하지 않았는데, 언젠가부터 그렇게 나쁘지 않더라. 좋아하게 되었다기보다 찍어주는 사람한테 양보하게 되었다고 할까. 찍고 싶은 대로 찍으면 좋겠다는 생각을 하게 되었다.
